Its low profile and bold base lend a sense of grounded elegance, making it a timeless centerpiece for contemporary living spaces.Historic provenance: The Coffee Table takes its design cues from a Catalan column shaft (ca. 113040) at The Cloisters, The Metropolitan Museum of Art's location devoted to the art and architecture of the Middle Ages. The original marbleandstone column shaft, made in presentday France, stands in the Museum's Cuxa Cloister, which has been recreated with fragments of the 12th century Benedictine monastery of SaintMicheldeCuxa. The Dining Table takes on the serene, simple form of the Museum's column shaft, and is carefully reimagined as an elegant travertine table.
