Crafted in the late 19th century, this altar table is distinguished by its intricately hand-carved double Ruyi panel legs. A Ruyi, meaning 'as desired' in Chinese, embodies both ceremonial significance in Chinese Buddhism and symbolizes good fortune in folklore. The table showcases a naturally aged wooden top and robust construction, adorned with delightful patinas, age-appropriate dents, and graceful signs of wear and tear. As an antique Chinese piece, it effortlessly transforms into an elegant Asian console table, a perfect addition to grand living rooms, dining spaces, hallways, or entryways.

Weight makes the strongest impression; the overall effect is refined but not at all fussy. It fills the long wall in our foyer beautifully and finally makes the space feel finished. There was a mild new-furniture smell at first, and it disappeared after a couple of days. The wood tone has a lot of depth and looks richer in person than it did online. I would definitely recommend it.

Assembling it was simpler than expected; the wood tone has enough variation to keep the surface interesting. It has enough presence for our large entry without looking bulky. The wood tone has a lot of depth and looks richer in person than it did online. Putting it together was easier than expected and the final result feels very stable. Overall, this was a great choice for our home.
