The top of this farm table from the late 18th century is constructed from one heavy single elm plank, 2.5" thick. Solid construction, naturally aged wood showing age proper patinas, dents, knots, lines, spots, and wear and tears. The restoration of this antique table from the countryside of Hebei province is kept to a minimum intentionally. The straight legs are mitered to the top. A fine example of traditional Chinese joinery: every piece of wood is calculated to interlock seamlessly to provide structural strength and enhances the beauty of the design. This over 8 feet long altar table with its original brown color, and beautiful aged top will make an astonishing Asian console table in a large living room, dining room, hallway, or entryway.

Decorators have commented on the proportions, and I agree that the finish has more depth in person than it did online. The wood tone has a lot of depth and looks richer in person than it did online.

Spacious enough for daily use, it still offers a strong presence without looking bulky. It has enough presence for our large entry without looking bulky. The packaging was a bit messy to unpack, but it protected the piece very well. The natural variation gives it character and keeps it from looking mass produced. It has the high-end look I wanted without feeling fussy.
